The Department of Cell Biology and Neurosciences
On December 2016, the former Departments of Cell Biology and Neurosciences were merged as a new department, namely, the Department of Cell Biology and Neurosciences in Shandong University School of Basic Medical Sciences. The new department is authorized for enrolling in PhD students and graduate students major in Cell Biology and Neurosciences. The department contains a Shandong Provincial Founded Key Laboratory for Medical Neurosciences and a Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory for Mental Diseases in Basic Research and Clinic Study.
The department is obligated for basic course teaching, including undergraduate basic knowledge teaching and graduate advanced courses teaching. The undergraduate courses containCell BiologyandCell Biology Experiments,Human Body Structure and Functions II, which are specially arranged forMedical School,Dental SchoolandSchool of Preventive Medicine.Also the courses ofCell Biology and its related coursesare taught by our teachers for the international medical students (namely, the MBBS courses). Each year, we have some graduate courses related to Cell Biology, such asthe Progress of Cell Biology, the Advanced Technologies of Cell Biology, the Cellular Structure and Diseases.Our courses are essentially important for the undergraduate to understand diseases and are necessary for the graduate students to enter into the gate of biomedical researches.
The researches in this department reach different realms and fields, including: Neurosciences, Cell Metabolism and Endocrine, Tumor Cell Biology, Stem cell and Immunology, et al. Each faculty has a specific project or research direction, all the faculties can learn from each other, some projects are integrated among the faculties. In the recent 10 years, thirty more research grants were funded in our department from different sources, such as State Key Research Projects, Nature Science Foundation of China, the Chinese Education Ministry, Shandong Nature Foundation. One hundred more research articles have been published from this department, the total impact factor reached 300.
