Clinical Medicine (Combined Bachelor-Master’s Degree cultivate)

This major cultivates advanced clinicians who have achieved a master's level. TheProgrammeaims to cultivate students with a broad knowledge of social science and natural science, deep medical basic theory, professional practical skills, certain scientific research ability, strong independent problem-solving ability and creative spirit. They can master English, and have the basic quality to participate in international medical sciences and technology competition in the future. After entering the school, students will have a one-year study of public basic, humanistic and social sciences, and then have a four-year study of basic and clinical medical theory and three-year of clinical practice. After passing the thesis defense, the students will be awarded the Master of Medicine.

Clinical Medicine

The major mainly cultivates clinicians with the ability of independent problem analysis and problem-solving skills. After entering the school, the students will get intensive English teaching. The basic and clinical courses are bilingual teaching so that students can have a solid foundation and professional English skills. In the first three years, students study knowledge of humanities, nature and basic medicine, and in the next two years, they go to affiliated or teaching hospitals to study clinical theories and skills, so that students can have certain knowledge of social science and natural science, master the basic theory of medicine, and have the basic ability to prevent and control common diseases, multiple morbidity, and deal with difficult and critical diseases. Excellent five-year undergraduates can study for master by recommending, most of which can go straight to a Ph.D.

English-TaughtProgramme (International Students)

MBBS

Shandong University is one of the earliest universities that admit international students for study toward M.B.B.S (Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery) in clinical medicine in China. The training program was launched in 2002 at SUSOM. The aim of this program, which takes five to seven years, is to train highly qualified physicians and surgeons through lecturing, laboratory teaching and supervised clinical practice. Two teaching modes, in Chinese and English, respectively, are offered. Among the current international students of over 300 at SUSOM, most select the English teaching mode. According to the data released by the Ministry of Education of P.R.China in 2008, Shandong University was one of the 25 universities accredited for enrolling international students for M.B.B.S in English.
