Recently, the latest research achievement of Professor Jia Jihui's team, Circular RNA hsa_circ_0004872 inhibits gastric cancer progression via the miR-224/Smad4/ADAR1 successive regulatory circuit was published online in molecular cancer. The first author of this paper is Cunying Ma, a doctoral student in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the corresponding author is Professor Zhifang Liu. Shandong University is the first author unit and corresponding author unit.

In this research, ADAR1/hsa_circ_0004872/miR-224-5p/Smad4 (p21) regulates the proliferation, invasion, and metastasis of gastric cancer cells, and Smad4 can further regulate ADAR1 expression as a transcription factor of ADAR1. This research explored the role of circRNA in the development of gastric cancer and its mechanism, which could provide new ideas for the diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer.

Professor Jihui Jia's team has long been engaged in the research on inflammation and malignant transformation of gastric infection and published nearly 100 papers in international academic journals such as Gastroenterology, Oncogene, Clin Cancer Res, and J Pathol. The above research was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
