Prof. Wei Zhao's team reveals a new mechanism of polyamine metabolism regulating cGAS activity by controlling DNA conformational transition
March 15, 2024

On November 14, 2023, Professor Wei Zhao's team from the School of Basic Medicine published a paper titled "Polyamine metabolism controls B-to-Z DNA transition to orchestrate DNA sensor cGAS" in the journal Immunity (Impact Factor = 36.3). This research study elucidated that polyamine metabolism regulates the antiviral immune response mediated by the DNA recognition receptor cGAS by influencing the transformation of DNA conformation. Chunyuan Zhao, assistant researcher, and Yunjin Ma, a doctoral student, serve as the first authors of this paper, with Wei Zhao as the corresponding author. Shandong University is both the first author and the independent corresponding author unit.
