On December 18, 2023, Professor Chengjiang Gao’s team from the School of Basic Medical Sciences published a research paper titled "Listerin promotes cGAS protein degradation through the ESCRT pathway to negatively regulate cGAS-mediated immune response" in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS). The study unveiled that Listerin modulates TDP43-related amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) by regulating cGAS-mediated inflammation and underscored the therapeutic potential of targeting this pathway in ALS treatment. Fei Qin, a doctoral student from the School of Basic Medical Sciences, is credited as the first author, while Professors Chengjiang Gao and Bingyu Liu are acknowledged as corresponding authors for this publication. Shandong University is recognized as both the primary author and the independent corresponding author institution.
