On February 28th, 2024, Professor Ma Chunhong from the School of Basic Medical Sciences published research results titled "Beta-cell Tipe1 orchestrates insulin secretion and cell proliferation by promoting G α s/cAMP signaling via USP5" in Advanced Science (Top/JCR Q1, 5 years IF=16.7). This study unveiled a novel mechanism of the Tipe1 molecule in regulating β-cell homeostasis and inhibiting the progression of diabetes. Ding Lu, a doctoral student in the Basic Medical College, served as the first author of this paper, while Gao Lifen, a professor from the School of Basic Medical Sciences, acted as the corresponding author. Shandong University is recognized as both the first author and correspondent unit of the paper.
The study elucidates a new mechanism by which Tipe1 regulates the ubiquitin modification of Gα s protein, offering a potential target for diabetes therapy. It is anticipated to provide fresh insights into enhancing the efficacy of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists in diabetes treatment.
