Professor Liu Shuwei's Team Makes New Progress in Research on Neuroimaging Diagnostic Biomarkers for Depressive Disorders
July 11, 2025

Recently, Professor Liu Shuwei’s team from the School of Basic Medical Sciences has made new progress in the research on neuroimaging diagnostic biomarkers for major depressive disorder (MDD). The study has proposed an MDD diagnostic method that combines plasma - derived exosomal miR - 151a - 3p with its associated multimodal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) indicators, providing a novel tool for the “standardization of clinical diagnosis” of MDD. Relevant findings, titled “Alterations in miR-151a-3p of plasma-derived exosomes and associated multimodal neuroimaging patterns in major depressive disorder”, have been published in Molecular Psychiatry, an authoritative international academic journal that is listed in JCR Tier 1 of the Chinese Academy of Sciences with a 5-year Impact Factor of 11.8. Professor Liu Shuwei from the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology, School of Basic Medical Sciences, and Associate Professor Yang Lejin from the Department of Psychology, Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, serve as the co - co-corresponding authors of the paper. Doctoral student Liang Wenjia is the first author, and Shandong University acts as the first author affiliation as well as the corresponding author affiliation.
