Recently, Professor Yu Shuyan’s team from the School of Basic Medical Sciences published their latest research findings titled “Stress induces behavioral disorders by promoting microglial phagocytosis via decreasing neuronal Dkk3” in the international authoritative academic journal Molecular Psychiatry (CAS JCR Tier 1, 5-year IF=11.8). This work demonstrates that chronic stress downregulates the expression of Dkk3 in hippocampal neurons, thereby promoting excessive phagocytosis of neuronal synapses by microglia and leading to the occurrence of depression-like behaviors. Professor Yu Shuyan is the corresponding author, Postdoctoral Fellow Chen Xiao is the first author, and Shandong University is the first author affiliation and corresponding author affiliation.
