March 8, 2025

Recently, the team led by Professor Gao Chengjiang from the School of Basic Medical Sciences, Shandong University, published their research findings “Listerin promotes alpha-synuclein degradation to alleviate Parkinson’s disease through ESCRT pathway”, online in Science Advances. This study uncovers the molecular mechanism by which the ubiquitin ligase Listerin facilitates the degradation of alpha-synuclein (α-synuclein) via the ESCRT pathway, thereby alleviating Parkinson’s disease. Qin Fei and Cao Runyu, doctoral candidates in the School of Basic Medical Sciences at Shandong University, are co-first authors of the paper. At the same time, Professors Gao Chengjiang and Liu Bingyu from Shandong University serve as co-corresponding authors. Shandong University is identified as the first author affiliation and the sole corresponding author affiliation.
