Cheeloo College of Medicine of SDU

Established in 1864, Cheeloo College of Medicine (Faculty of Medicine) stands as one of China's oldest medical education institutions, having cultivated over 45,000 healthcare professionals who have significantly advanced medical research and public health. Cheeloo College of Medicine comprises 9 schools and centers, including the School of Basic Medical Sciences, School of Public Health, School of Stomatology, School of Nursing and Rehabilitation, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the First School of Clinical Medicine, the Second School of Clinical Medicine, School of Biomedical Engineering, School (Institute) of Mental and Psychological Health, and Medical Integration and Practice Center. It operates five affiliated tertiary hospitals to support clinical training and research.

School of Basic Medical Sciences (BMS)

As the cornerstone of Cheeloo College of Medicine, the School of Basic Medical Sciences (BMS) integrates 15 academic departments and 5 specialized research centers. With a faculty of 296 full-time members, the School mentors 2,264 enrolled students. Its research excellence from 2020 to 2025 is demonstrated by securing approximately CN¥302 million in competitive grants, including 185 national projects and over 180 provincial initiatives, and by publishing more than 800 peer-reviewed articles, 15 of which appeared in top-tier journals such as Cell, Nature Genetics, Gut, and Gastroenterology.

International Workshop for Young Scholar on Basic Medical Sciences

The workshop primarily consists of two components: the international symposium and laboratory works. Among these, the International Symposium on Basic Medical Sciences has been held annually since 2021, now in its fifth consecutive session. It has attracted nearly a hundred early-career scholars from over 20 countries, establishing itself as a high-level international academic event that promotes global scientific collaboration and scholarly exchange.Building on its legacy, this symposium will foster interdisciplinary dialogue and elevate young scholar research capabilities through keynote lectures, poster sessions, and collaborative workshops. Prospective participants worldwide are cordially invited to engage in this premier academic forum.

The Symposium will be organized by offline and online simultaneously.

8.Content

Participants will deliver academic presentation on basic medical sciences, including anatomy and neurobiology, histology and embryology, physiology and pathophysiology, biochemistry and molecular biology, immunology, pathogenic biology, pathology, pharmacology, genetics, cell biology, medical psychology and ethics. Presentations on clinical medicine are also welcome!

The presentation can be a published article or an introduction to unpublished research progress.

Oral or Poster.

Oral presentation will be limited to 20 minutes (excluding the time for questioning).

10.Awards

Certificates for all participants and outstanding speakers will be issued.
