RESEARCH INTEREST

1. Senescence is defined as irreversible arrest of cell growth and loss of replicative capacity. Senescent cells have characteristic morphology (a large, flattened shape) and secretory phenotype. Accumulating evidence suggests that aberrant expression oflong non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs) play important roles incellular senescence. We found that hundreds of lncRNAs and mRNAs were differentially expressed inreplicatativesenescentand premature senescent human fibroblast cellscompared tonormal human fibroblast cells.

2.Neferine is a major alkaloid component in lotus embryos. We found that neferine possessed potent growth-inhibitory effect on human osteosarcoma cells, but not on non-neoplastic human osteoblasts cells. The inhibitory effect of neferine on human osteosarcoma cells was largelydue top38 MAPK-mediated p21 stabilization.
